background (9 feet is a good size for most people)
tripod ( for hot lights or big cameras or special photos, in general is inconvenient)

Why use flash?
Light is one of the most important factor in photography. When the light is insufficient or when we want to shape the light to flash call. When use fill-in flash? When sunlight causes shadows on the subject that we want to photos using flash can remove those shadows. We have to keep the power of flash and the distance between camera and photo subject.
